A Message From the Founder

I would first like to thank you for visiting the ParalegalGateway. I hope that it becomes a place on the internet that will offer you time-saving career tools, advice and information but, above all, lasting friendships with other Paralegals around the world.

The idea for the Gateway came to me back in late 2001 while looking for a job.  As I searched the internet for employer information, it became obvious to me that there wasn’t one specific site just for Paralegals.

Jeannie S. Johnston

After further investigation, I was satisfied that the creation of the ParalegalGateway would fill a gap on the World Wide Web for Paralegal professionals.  You’ll notice that I capitalize the word “Paralegal”; please don’t send grammar mail.  I do this out of sincere respect for my fellow Paralegals.  I have been a Paralegal since 1991, and have witnessed first hand the blood, sweat and (occasional) tears that my colleagues have produced in an attempt to make a mark on the legal community.  Most of the time their efforts go unrewarded both financially and within our own Paralegal community.

Thanks to national and local associations and publications such as Paralegal Today Paralegals are, now more than ever, beginning to receive the recognition they deserve.  My goal for the Gateway is to continue in that spirit, offering support, informative information and above all, recognition to Paralegals who are making a difference in both the legal profession and their communities.

Another goal is to promote law firms and companies who offer compensation and incentive programs specifically for their Paralegals.  ParalegalGateway will regularly feature employers who have gone above and beyond the standard practices to include Paralegals as a vital part of their organizations.

There’s always room for improvement so, I encourage each of you to offer constant feedback and help to make the ParalegalGateway the most informative, first-stop site for Paralegals around the globe.  I look forward to making many new friends here as we all journey together through this Paralegal profession.  Take care and God bless!
