Paralegal Panel “Her Legal Path” Spotlights Women in Law

What does the legal world look like besides the law school pipeline? That’s the question “Her Legal Path,” a Paralegal panel hosted by Huron Women in Political Science, was trying to answer. On November 24th more than 30 students nestled in Huron University College’s Great Hall to hear panelists spotlight women’s work in the Paralegal field. The event opened with a presentation from the Law Society of Ontario, followed by a panel of women sharing guidance on acquiring their license, their work experience and the various career pathways in the field. Mary Accardi

Campbell Law School’s Mary Accardi has been chosen as an “Unsung Hero” by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. This award honors exceptional legal support professionals who consistently go above and beyond to serve their firms and clients. Kapi’olani Community College Pioneers AI-Powered Paralegal Training

Kapi’olani Community College’s Legal Education Program is the first Paralegal program in the U.S. to partner with Wickard.ai to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) education into its curriculum. Students and faculty are gaining specialized training in AI applications for the legal field — in an industry-leading initiative. The pilot program provides faculty and select students with free access to Wickard.ai’s certification course, offering a deep dive into large language models, AI-powered legal tools, and emerging regulations. Plans are already in place to expand access to all Paralegal students. Read more here:

How to Write a Resume to ‘Beat the Bots’

Here’s a fact that’s not so fun: When you apply to a job, a recruiter or manager might never set eyes on your resume. Instead, your hard work might get tossed out and never seen again. In fact, this automatic rejection is the case for approximately 75 percent of job applications. Why? Because 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies use software known as applicant tracking systems (ATS) to automatically sort through resumes. Also referred to as “resume bots,” ATS software methodically weeds out the least qualified candidates. Even if you are qualified for the position, if your resume is not formatted to be scanned properly by the software, it can be rejected for failing to pass through the system. Read More.
