Bill Seeks Privacy Protections for Public Defender Paralegals/Support Staff

A Volusia County lawmaker is proposing a public records exemption to shield the personal data of legal assistants who work with Florida’s public defenders and regional conflict counsel. Republican Rep. Bill Partington, an Ormond Beach attorney, filed HB 181 earlier this month. The bill defines legal assistants as non-lawyer employees of the public defender or Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel. Read More Here!

Staff Sgt. Zhakira Moton, noncommissioned officer in charge of administrative law, 1st Cavalry Division, was awarded the sergeant Eric Coggins Award of Excellence at a ceremony held at the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, VA. “I am truly humbled and grateful to have been selected as the 24th recipient of the Sergeant Coggins Award of Excellence,” Zhakira said during her award speech.
